    Gordon Food Service offers hiring program for new Americans in Springfield

    Gordon Food Service locations, including in Springfield, are offering a program in the community to hire new Americans who have been in the country for less than five years.

    Mehr Un Nisa Jahed, of Gordon Food Service, talked about the company’s Kindred Program during a Haitian Coalition meeting on Wednesday in Springfield. This program hires new Americans at GFS, offering resources before, during and after the interview process, as well as if they are hired.

    “We are excited ... I think that all of us are going to be envious and just very proud that Gordon Food Service is in our community and offering this program,” said Kerry Pedraza, executive director of the United Way of Clark, Champaign and Madison counties, who spoke at the meeting.
