This Ohio State Spinout Is Using AI to Enhance Hearing Instrument Technology

Have you ever been in the middle of a conversation in a crowded room and struggled to hear the person you were speaking with? For those who use a hearing aid or other hearable device, it can be especially difficult to understand speech in a loud, noisy environment, a phenomenon known as the cocktail party effect. Neural Ear, a spinout startup from Ohio State, is leveraging technology created by researchers at the university to improve the ability of hearing instruments to isolate and recognize dominant speech sounds, increasing speech intelligibility for users.
