Your business needs workforce - Clark County, Ohio has it. Springfield and Clark County is in the center of one of the largest laborsheds in the United States. Located between Dayton and Columbus, Springfield’s employers can draw from two major metropolitan areas, surrounding rural communities and Springfield itself.

“We recognize that workforce availability is one of the most pressing challenges businesses are facing. Springfield has the large laborshed companies need, and we have a plan to expand it. The Greater Springfield Partnership has an entire team dedicated to recruiting employees, reaching high school students and upskilling current residents. We are 100% focused on ensuring that the local workforce is in place to support the growth of existing and new companies,” said Horton Hobbs IV, Vice President of Economic Development.

Clark County Has a Huge Laborshed

Within Clark County, there are 64,715 people in the labor force. 32-minutes away, in Dayton, there is a labor force of 387,000. And, in Columbus, 45-minutes away, there is a labor force of 1.119 million people. “Given the proximity of Dayton and Columbus, Springfield employers have an easy time recruiting employees from a laborshed that is over 1.5 million people,” said Hobbs.

There Are Benefits to Commuting Into Clark County

One significant benefit of working in Clark County is the lack of traffic. Commuting into Dayton and Columbus can be challenging, given the sheer population size. Those taking a job in Clark County have the advantage of community out and away from the traffic. For people who live near, but outside of, the city, this reverse community is very appealing. “A lot of our employers find that people enjoy working in Springfield so they can get out of the traffic and have more time with their families,” said Hobbs.

This same benefit applies to companies as well. Companies like Gabe’s and Eby-Brown have chosen Springfield for its central location and how convenient it is to distribute their products.

Springfield Offers Access to A Large Laborshed in a Congestion-free Location

When accessibility matters, Springfield, Ohio is the right choice for growing companies. “We have one of the largest 45-minute labor sheds in Ohio where you can access large markets without the traffic,” said Hobbs. “There are over 35 Springfields in the United States but this is the Springfield you need to know about.”
