Plans approved for Springfield’s 1st Starbucks shop, may open this fall
March 26, 2018
A building permit has been approved with the city of Springfield for a future Starbucks on Hillcrest Avenue, the first full store and drive-through for the national coffee shop in the city.
The permit calls for a 2,300-square-foot building at 1490 Hillcrest Ave. on a parcel adjacent to the existing Meijer store at the same address.
The permit filed with the city lists the project’s value at $500,000. The store has a projected opening date in October, according to information on the developer’s website.
Gallas Zadeh Development, based in Columbus, is listed as the developer of the project. Officials from that company couldn’t be reached for comment. Greg Gallas, an owner of the development firm, told the Springfield News-Sun last year that the Seattle-based chain has been looking at a possible standalone store in Springfield off and on for a long time.
