Springfield adoption agency to show off renovations

Monday, November 20, 2017

Choosing Hope Adoptions, a faith-based, state-sanctioned adoption agency serving the state of Ohio, has recently finished renovations on its Springfield offices and will be hosting an open house information event on Nov. 1 from 4:30 to 7 p.m.

The agency, located at the 616 Building on N. Limestone Street in Springfield, began its renovations in July, executive director Angela Boblitt said. A grant from the Wilson Sheehan Foundation, an organization that strives to help underprivileged women and children, helped the organization move ahead with the remodeling spurred by its growth.

“It was amazing to receive help from them,” Boblitt said. “We really couldn’t have done all this without them.”

Boblitt said the agency has acquired space adjacent to its location in the building, which will allow it to do a lot of things in the future, including holding classes and gatherings starting next year for prospective parents looking to adopt or those looking for help. She said subjects will range from how to manage trauma in children involved in the process to support groups for birth parents.

“A lot of birth parents are very isolated in the community,” Boblitt said. “We’re hoping to give them a chance to connect with others and offer a chance for them to meet people and talk about what they’re going through.”

The agency’s open house event is intended to show off what it has to offer the community and raise awareness for those either looking to adopt or looking for assistance. Since the agency opened in 2014, Boblitt said it has assisted between 40-50 families and placed dozens of children.
