October 4, 2021 – Gabriel Brothers Inc., or Gabe’s, is excited to announce a new distribution center in Springfield, Ohio, at the PrimeOhio II Industrial Park at 1801 Prime Parkway. Measuring more than 850,000 square feet, it will be the company’s largest distribution center. Construction at the 114-acre site will begin mid-October and hiring will commence in the fall of 2022. The facility is expected to open for full operation in February 2023. The $77.5 million project will create more than 800 full-time and part-time jobs over five years. Positions will include material handlers, packers, sorters, equipment operation, truck drivers, counters, maintenance, administration, supervisors and managers.

“Gabe’s is thrilled to join the incredible Springfield community,” said Jason Wolter, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Gabe’s. “It is our commitment to build a state-of-the-art facility and run a top-tier operation that will contribute positively on behalf of all Ohioans.”

"Ohio’s economic outlook is strong, and the fact that Gabe’s chose Ohio for its largest fulfillment center in the nation is a testament to substantial advantages of doing business here," said Ohio Governor Mike DeWine. "Ohio is proud to support this economic growth in Clark County through assistance from JobsOhio and the Ohio Department of Development, and we are looking forward to seeing this fulfillment center and its 800 new employees thrive.”

“We are excited about this project and the partnership between Gabe’s, the Springfield CIC, JLL, and NorthPoint,” said Tim McElroy, VP of Development with NorthPoint Development. “As developers we believed in the location along I-70 and a welcoming Springfield community, so it’s rewarding to have Gabe’s select this location for the same reasons. We look forward to welcoming Gabe’s as a NorthPoint customer with the unparalleled service we are known for.”

“From our first discussions with site developer Northpoint Development and the company’s consultant, JLL, we knew Gabe’s would be a great addition to our community,” said Horton Hobbs IV, Vice President of Economic Development for the Greater Springfield Partnership. “Gabe’s vision for growth aligned with the community’s location and unmatched workforce.”

Gabe’s choose global commercial real estate services company JLL to coordinate site selection, business consulting and project management services on behalf of the organization.

“With the strong growth in the nation’s industrial market, it can be difficult to find the desired location for companies looking to expand,” said JLL International Director Meredith O’Connor. “We’re pleased to have been able to help Gabe’s find the ideal space—one that will help create jobs and further bolster the city’s economy.”

“We are excited that Gabe’s sees the opportunity the greater Springfield community offers from quality of life, workforce and ability to help them grow,” said Mike McDorman, President and CEO of the Greater Springfield Partnership. “The many years of effort to make the PrimeOhio II Industrial Park a great site has paid off. Gabe’s is a perfect fit for the park and a great addition to our community. This investment is exactly what we envisioned for the park.”

“We are thrilled that Gabriel Brothers has made the decision to invest in Springfield after seeing all that our community has to offer,” said Springfield Mayor Warren Copeland. “With close to one million square feet and over 800 jobs at Prime Ohio II, this is a huge win for our community and continues the upward momentum that we have seen over the last several years.”

"Projects like this are a tremendous return on our county's economic development partnership investment,” said Melanie Wilt, President of the Clark County Commission. “We're able to increase opportunities for all of our residents with each new living wage job created here in Springfield and Clark counties."

"Gabriel Brothers' newest distribution center in Clark County will be a state-of-the-art facility in the core of the U.S. supply chain," said J.P. Nauseef, JobsOhio president and CEO. "We are grateful for the collaboration of our regional and local partners to establish the Prime Ohio II Industrial Park and attract this successful company and hundreds of new jobs to this premier site."

“Gabriel Brothers distribution facility leverages Springfield’s logistical advantage to support their national retail operations and brings hundreds of jobs to Clark County. We’re thrilled to welcome them to the Prime Ohio II park and look forward helping them build a bright future in Ohio,” added Jeff Hoagland, President & CEO, Dayton Development Coalition.

“This project will bring new jobs and help spur additional development in our community,” said State Senator Bob Hackett. “I would like to thank everyone at the Greater Springfield Partnership for working to bring this project to Springfield. I applaud Gabriel Brothers Inc. for choosing to expand their operations in our region of the state and investing in the hard-working people of Ohio.”

"Great things happen when people work together. In a time when that seems more and more difficult at the national and state levels, I am excited to see Gabe's come to our community,” said State Representative Kyle Koehler. “Gabe’s sees what I see – Springfield, Clark County, the Greater Springfield Partnership, and the Springfield CIC working hand-in-hand with JobsOhio to invest in Ohio’s 79th District. The 1,000 new jobs that will be created in Clark County will have an immeasurable positive impact on our community. Thank you to all involved for being an example worth emulation for the rest of Ohio.”
